Acting

My first professional theatre job, in 1991, was playing Mozart with the English String Orchestra. My second was devised multi-media work. Since then, my career has divided neatly between the classical and the (in one way or another) alternative. Thirty years and a hundred or so shows later, I’m not going to bore you with every detail, but if you want any of them, a long list and my showreel is below –

In no particular order, I am most proud to have been part of the following things: my work as an Associate Artist of Slung Low (most particularly the 2014 version of Moby Dick on water The White Whale), playing the lead role in Neil Oram’s 24-hour play cycle The Warp 1998-9, being a founder member of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, my work as one third of performance trio IROQIM 1997-2002, playing Robert Anton Wilson in Daisy Campbell’s version of Cosmic Trigger, keeping the flame of The School of Night alive, and making my debut at the RSC in 2003.

Radio/Voice

My first professional radio experience was with the BBC Radio Rep company (1994-5), where I was lucky enough to take part in productions of Len Deighton’s Bomber, Sartre’s Roads To Freedom trilogy, Brecht’s Life of Galileo, Verne’s Journey to The Centre of The Earth and episodes of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple among many others. Since then, I have been back many times, most recently for productions of The Duchess of Malfi and the pilot series of Showstopper!, as well as recording Doctor Who adventures for Big Finish and audio books for Naxos and Audible. Here’s a couple of narrative pieces – Vanity Fair * Short story

I am currently not represented for voicework. Click on any of the following words for some commercial excerpts: fringe * surveillance * classicfm
