‘Oliver’s project was nuanced, specific and deeply human. He supported and challenged the students, building confidence that allowed them to take risks and play boldly. He is an empathetic teacher, who drew strong and sometimes surprising  performances from students with encouragement and clarity.’

Lucy Skilbeck Director of Actor Training, RADA

Being More Yourself (for indivduals)

When you walk into a room, when you step up in front of a group of people, when you’ve been set a challenge at work, it’s incredibly easy not to be yourself. For some it’s the greatest of fears. But again and again we find the best results come from when we feel relaxed and most ‘ourselves’. The things that get in the way of our achieving this are varied: expectations, posture, misunderstanding, breathing or plain nerves. But with a little one-on-one time and application, everyone can find their way to greater clarity and confidence.

Being Part of a Group

In some environments selfishness is still encouraged, though Stephen Hawking said that only increased empathy will save us in the end: kindness and sensitivity to those around us makes us more receptive, more productive, more effective. My group sessions are an exploration of how the team works and how to make it work better by thinking of others before ourselves. Through interactive group activity we explore ways of switching off the inner censorship that slows us down, and second guesses our first and possibly best decisions.

Being Creative

All of us have creative power – ideas, stories, worlds – within us. By concentrating on getting on with things rather than refining them before we’ve even begun, we can astound ourselves at just how much creativity we have. Creative sessions take storytelling (in any form: novel, play, comic, film, rap, mime) as a starting point, from which surprising amounts of raw material and unexpected discovery can happen in a relatively short time.

Any of these courses can be adapted to differing lengths of time and (in the case of the last two) sizes of group. Other challenges and difficult situations are welcomed and embraced.
